Job Description:
The Registered Nurse in the OB Department provides direct and
indirect patient care. - He/She applies the nursing process to plan
and implement the care of patients, including patient and family
education and continuum of care planning. - The Registered Nurse
must possess good communication skills and must be able to
effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients and
families. - He/She works collaboratively with all members of the
healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered. The Registered
Nurse working in the OB department will care for various types of
patients including but not limited to antepartum, intrapartum,
postpartum, newborn, GYN surgery patients.Essential Functions
-Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs of
the patient.Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other
healthcare professionals to provide care to the
patients.Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the
patient plan of careAdministering medications and treatments within
the scope of practice for a Registered NurseRecording patient care
activities including assessment, reassessment, and ongoing
treatment notes within the patient's medical record.Using a variety
of computer systemsOperating medical equipment used in the care of
the patientProviding patient and family education related to
treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge and
self-care.Providing patient care following nursing standards of
care in a manner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to
patients, and promotes heath and healing.Must be able to read and
communicate effectively in English.
Must possess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quickly
in changing situations, to function dependently and independently
and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety
of settings.Unit specific duties as assigned.Non-Essential
Functions -Accepts all call schedule as directed.Complete all
assigned education in a timely manner.Other duties as
assigned.Organizational Expectations -Actively participates in
Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics such as Briefs,
Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient
Safety Rounds and reporting of unanticipated and unintended patient
events regardless of whether there is harm.Consistent use of AIDET
& 5 P's

Associates Degree in Nursing is required.
Bachelor Degree in Nursing is preferred.Required Licenses
[Tennessee, -United States] -Registered Nurse
Must have a current TN RN license or a compact state license or
obtain within 30 days from date of hire.Required Skills
BLS - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
ACLS - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
NRP - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
AWHONN Beginners Fetal Monitoring Certification - current or must
obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification - current or
must obtain within 6 months from date of hire.
S.T.A.B.L.E. - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of
