The Senior Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) engineer provides expertise to NASA's Human Landing System (HLS) Program at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). We are seeking individuals with 20+ years of experience in flight control systems and analysis with demonstrated leadership experience. This position will be the Deputy GNC Discipline Lead for HLS and act as a main point of contact for commercial partners and cross-programs (Orion, Gateway, and Space Launch System).
Leadership of technical teams involved in the planning, execution and completion of design analysis cycles and trade studies.
Proven ability to aid in the management of a diverse GNC engineering team.
Experience identifying GNC system risks and developing alternative approaches to mitigate any risks.
Ability to develop and analyze 6-DOF dynamics simulation models used for GNC systems analysis and validation.
Engage in multi-disciplinary vehicle systems investigations and provide assessments.
Ability to assess hardware and software qualification plans in as the programs finalizes a Certification of Flight.
Experience in developing approaches to evaluate providers GNC subsystem and develop independent analyses as warranted.
Experienced in briefing senior leadership.
Postgraduate degree in physics or an engineering discipline.
-Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft system.
- Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.
- Experience working with international partners and/or commercial providers.
